Success for Fermanagh's first seaplane festival
Just a few of the pilots and helpers.....What a handsome bunch!
The biggest excitement for the amphibious flying club has got to be the success of the Fermanagh Seaplane festival. Held on the 24-25 th May 2009 at the Share holiday village, 7 seaplanes attended from as far a field as Holland, England, Scotland and of course Ireland. Some 4500 visitors came to see the event. The press coverage was excellent thanks to our promoter Thomas McCaffery of Corker Communications. We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Share holiday village and especially to those members that came and helped out at the event.
If you visit youtube, the Share has made a DVD which they are entering into the Cork film festival or we have a copy in the office.
The event will be held again in 2011 as next year we will be off to Biscarrose in Bordeaux 13-16 th May.
If anyone wishes to come along, please let us know. For those wishing to fly themselves there is an airport very local to Biscarrosse or flights are available from Dublin to Bordeaux with a 1 hour travel to Biscarrosse.
G-YG avionics upgrade..............

We now have a new audio panel, a Garmin 430 with an ILS indicator and an ADF installed, so your IMC rating can now be done on G-YG helping to keep your cost's down. The upgrade was the first to be done at Usher Aviation's new avionics shop in Sligo.
This will also help with position fixing for the basic PPL training.
Training news..............
We are very busy with new students especially at the weekends and people solo hiring G-YG. We have completed three night qualifications this winter with the weather delaying the completion of the fourth. The nights are starting to get lighter so if you would like to complete or do a night qualification let us know now. With the avionics upgrade we will be carrying on the IMC ratings with G-YG which will count towards the new EASA En-route IR when it eventually comes out (more details to follow).
